Simon Bertilsson has extended his contract with Brynäs for two more seasons. The 34-year-old defenseman, who has played for Brynäs since 2007/2008 except for one season in Sochi, is reportedly one of the club's most important players. According to reports, he has made the third-most appearances in Brynäs history, behind only Ove Molin and Tommy Sjödin.
Bertilsson said he is very happy and proud to stay with Brynäs, and sport director Johan Alcén stated that extending with Bertilsson was a high priority, calling him incredibly important for the team and the club. Bertilsson reportedly helped Brynäs return to the top league from Hockeyallsvenskan and was part of the team that reached the SM final last year, though he has played only 25 games this season due to an injury. Brynäs is currently fighting for a quarterfinal spot with one round left in the series.
