Norwegian skier Silje Öyre Slind, 38, had her start in a Ski Classics race delayed due to a ski issue. The 50-kilometer individual start race did not go as hoped for the Norwegian star. She had trouble with a ski and could not start the competition at the scheduled time.
When she finally got going, she was far behind. A Norwegian leader in Öyre Slind's team said the problem was a defect in the binding that prevented her from taking off or putting on her ski. The race is ongoing.
