Siemens Energy is embarking on a significant expansion at its Finspång facility, with plans to hire more than 1,000 new employees in the coming years, according to local reports. The company's gas turbine production is expected to more than double, increasing from approximately 40 units per year to around 120 annually.
Siemens Energy Sweden CEO Gunnar Wik stated that the company needs to hire over a thousand people in the coming years to support this growth. Currently, about 4,200 people work at the Finspång facility, with around 900 of them being consultants.
Siemens Energy's success benefits Finspång, Norrköping, and the entire labor market region.
The expansion has prompted local authorities to launch a new initiative called "Jag väljer Finspång" (I Choose Finspång) in collaboration with Tillväxt Finspång and several industrial companies. The project aims to attract new employees to settle in the municipality.
Municipal councilor Mats Annerfeldt (S) expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating that Siemens Energy's success benefits Finspång, Norrköping, and the entire labor market region. The local government hopes that most of the newly hired employees will choose to reside in the municipality, prompting efforts to enhance the area's attractiveness to potential residents.
