Avon and Somerset Police were called at 1:47 PM to a report that a gun had been fired at a car on Speedwell Road in Speedwell, Bristol. A man in his twenties was taken to hospital with a serious injury, which is potentially life-changing but not believed to be life-threatening. No other injuries have been reported. The suspect left in the direction of Soundwell on a black and grey electric bike, and is described as white, aged in his late teens or early twenties, of slim build, about 6 feet tall, wearing a grey hoodie, black trousers, and a balaclava.

Speedwell Road has been taped off near the Wackum pub and near the car wash crossroads. St Anne's Woods remains cordoned off as an area of interest. Members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in St Anne's Woods and the Speedwell area.

Three schools have been locked down as a precaution due to the incident. The three schools locked down are Bristol Brunel Academy, Two Mile Hill Primary School, and Chester Park Infant School.

The air ambulance was seen landing at Barton Fields Park at around 2:30 PM. A police helicopter has been seen circling over the city for about an hour and a half.

Speedwell Road remains closed at key points, with tape near the Wackum pub and car wash crossroads. St Anne's Woods is also cordoned off. Members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in these areas.

The victim's family have been informed and will be kept updated. There will be a significant police presence in the area over the coming days with extra patrols.

Three people have been arrested after the shooting. Police arrested a man in his twenties on suspicion of attempted murder, and another man and a woman in their twenties on suspicion of assisting an offender, all in the early hours. All three arrested individuals are in police custody.

The shooter remains at large and a large police manhunt is underway. However, police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time. An investigation is underway to identify the man responsible.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police appealed for witnesses and footage of the incident.

The current condition and prognosis of the victim in the hospital have not been disclosed beyond the initial assessment. What was the motive or circumstances leading to the shooting also remains unknown. Are the three arrested individuals directly connected to the shooting, and what evidence links them, is another key question.

How long will the school lockdowns and police cordons remain in place is uncertain. What specific evidence or witness accounts have police gathered so far has also not been revealed.
