Sha'Carri Richardson won a handicap sprint race on grass in Australia. The runners competed in different lanes and started based on their strength. 15 seconds, just ahead of Australian teenager Charlotte Nielsen, who started with a nine-meter head start.
The race was the Stawell Gift, Australia's oldest running event, held since 1878 with some breaks during World War II and the pandemic. Richardson earned 260,000 kronor in prize money. After the win, she jumped into the arms of her boyfriend Christian Coleman, who did not advance from the semifinals.
Home runner Olufemi Komolafe won the men's final.
