Senegal's parliament has approved a law that increases penalties for people who enter same-sex marriages. The law bans 'crimes against nature,' a term reportedly used to describe same-sex marriages, with penalties of five to ten years in prison. According to the law, penalties for advocating same-sex relationships are three to seven years in prison.
No one in parliament voted against the law, which now needs to be signed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
