Sverigedemokraterna politician Emilie Pilthammar has been issued a warning by her party following controversial blog posts about Russia and Ukraine, according to reports from Swedish media outlets. The warning was delivered after the party's board handled the matter on Monday, with the party's press department stating that the case is now considered closed.
Pilthammar, who is Sverigedemokraterna's top candidate in Sölvesborg for the upcoming autumn elections, reportedly wrote in her blog that "the Russian might have been a better solution than the leadership we have now" and questioned what would be worse if Russia took over. In another post, she described choosing between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as being like choosing between "pest or cholera."

Despite the warning, Pilthammar remains as the party's lead candidate in Sölvesborg. Mats Gunnarsson, SD's chairman in Sölvesborg, confirmed there are no changes to her candidacy, stating "Absolutely. There are no changes" to TT news agency. Gunnarsson characterized the blog posts as "loose contexts" but emphasized the importance of adhering to the party line.
The former Moderate Party member became Sverigedemokraterna's new top name in Sölvesborg ahead of the autumn elections. The party's decision to issue a warning rather than take more severe disciplinary action suggests they consider the matter resolved while maintaining her position as a candidate.
