Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series is reportedly set to receive AirDrop compatibility, according to technology reports from March 2026. The development follows Google's expansion of AirDrop support to Android devices through its Quick Share platform.
Google initially surprised the market in November 2025 by adding AirDrop support to its Pixel 10 series, allowing files to be both sent to and received from iPhones in proximity. In early February 2026, Google announced that many more Android devices would gain AirDrop support through Quick Share during the year.
According to a Swedish technology publication citing a South Korean source, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S26 will become compatible with AirDrop. The functionality is expected to be rolled out to the Galaxy S26 series early, following the Pixel series, with plans to subsequently extend the feature to more Galaxy mobile devices.
Currently, only models in the Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 series support AirDrop functionality on Android devices. The expansion to Samsung's flagship Galaxy S26 series represents a significant step in bridging the file-sharing gap between Android and iOS ecosystems.
