The work begins in the south and moves northward during the spring, using trawl, fish traps, gillnets, and watch cages. The monitoring will be completed in Northern Norway in July. Rune Nilsen, head of the national lice monitoring, said the results provide important information about how different species are negatively affected by salmon lice.
The findings are crucial for understanding how hard wild fish are affected, Nilsen added. Specific results from previous years, the number of personnel involved, and the budget for this year's monitoring have not been disclosed.
