Namajunas has called for stricter penalties on eye pokes in MMA. In a social media post, she stated, 'I really hope eye pokes will be taken more seriously in the future. I propose instant purse deduction even for an accident. An accident that could seriously affect a fighters health long term.' It remains unknown whether the UFC or other MMA organizations are considering rule changes in response to her proposal. The long-term prognosis for her eye health after the surgery and injury has also not been disclosed.
