Hisham Abugharbieh, 26, the roommate of Zamil Limon, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a weapon in the deaths of Limon and Nahida S. Bristy, according to multiple reports. Limon's remains were found on the Howard Frankland bridge on Friday morning; Bristy is still missing.

The two students vanished within an hour of each other on April 16. Limon was last seen around 9 a.m. at his student apartment on Avalon Heights Boulevard, and Bristy was last seen around 10 a.m. at the Natural and Environmental Sciences Building on campus. A family friend reported both missing at 5 p.m. the following day. Both have been entered into state and national missing persons databases. Police confirmed the pair are not being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Abugharbieh was initially taken into custody on Friday at his family's home on preliminary charges including unlawfully moving a dead body, failure to report a death, tampering with evidence, false imprisonment, and battery. He barricaded himself inside and a SWAT team responded before he surrendered. Abugharbieh had been a USF student but was not currently enrolled. He had previous arrests including battery and burglary in 2023, and domestic violence petitions had been filed against him. According to a relative, Limon and Bristy were considering getting married. An autopsy is being performed on Limon's remains to determine manner and cause of death.
