A smoke incident at a swimming pool in Sysslebäck on Maundy Thursday forced approximately 30 swimmers to evacuate the water basins. According to rescue services, the incident was caused by a fire in an electric motor. The automatic alarm went off shortly before 5 PM at the swimming facility, and the pump under a jacuzzi began smoking.
All swimmers left the water basins and waited in the reception area, according to staff at the swimming pool. Three units from the rescue service were on site ventilating smoke from the building. No ambulances were dispatched to the location, and the swimming pool chose to remain closed for the rest of the day.
