Rögle defeated Färjestad 2-1 in the fourth quarterfinal match of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) playoffs in Karlstad, forcing a fifth game. Färjestad had a chance to secure a semifinal spot but lost after Rögle turned the game around in the third period. The match was reportedly intense with physical play and controversial moments.
Färjestad took the lead in the second period when Lucas Forsell scored on a direct shot after fine work by Linus Johansson, but Rögle equalized shortly after with a goal from Paul LaDue. In the third period, Rögle won on a powerplay goal by Linus Sandin with eight minutes left. Färjestad's head coach Cam Abbott was visibly upset over a non-call on a tackle by Daniel Zaar, and the home crowd booed and gestured at Zaar.
The series now stands at 3-1, and the next match will be played in Ängelholm on Wednesday evening.
