Research measures A-tractor emissions in Linköping

EnvironmentEnvironment
Key Points
  • A research project in Linköping is measuring emissions from A-tractors.
  • A previous measurement found particle emissions up to 1,000 times greater than from regular cars.
  • The study aims to address a lack of knowledge about A-tractor emissions.

A research project is underway in Linköping at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, VTI, to measure emissions from A-tractors. The vehicles lack requirements for exhaust cleaning, and emissions may be much larger than previously known. The only previous measurement showed that particle emissions can be up to 1,000 times greater than from regular cars.

VTI researcher Nina Svensson says the project aims to find out what emissions from A-tractors look like, as there is very little knowledge about it, by measuring directly in the exhaust while driving.
