The regional UF fair opened in Linköping on Thursday, gathering young entrepreneurs to showcase ideas ranging from sustainability to crisis preparedness. At Saab Arena in Linköping, the event is bustling with young entrepreneurs, interested visitors, politicians, and business representatives. There are 270 companies present, a significant increase from the previous year.
According to Elma Markström, project leader for Ung Företagsamhet Östergötland, the reason for the increase is that a larger venue this year allows offering a spot to everyone. Participants have started companies selling hair clips made from recycled spoons, board games set in Östergötland, and selected second-hand clothes. Inspiration often comes from personal experiences, such as Tuva Moberg and her friends developing a crisis kit for businesses after a school evacuation exercise, with crisis preparedness being a theme picked up by several UF companies.
