Region Stockholm participated with healthcare personnel in a national support force sent to the Gulf region. Between March 7 and 10, employees from Region Stockholm were part of the national support force that was in the Gulf region. The national support force is led by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, and the medical effort is led and coordinated by the National Board of Health and Welfare.
In this specific operation, three regions contributed with medical staff. The mission involved providing medical advice to Swedish embassies in the area. The support force is activated upon request from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Its task is to support foreign missions, such as embassies and consulates, when many Swedish citizens or persons residing in Sweden are affected by a serious accident or disaster abroad. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency has coordination responsibility for the Support Force.
