Region Stockholm has allocated 300 summer culture job placements to 15 municipalities for the summer of 2026. The jobs are part of 40 different summer holiday projects for young people born between 2007 and 2009, involving circus, dance, film, music, crafts, and this year also theater. The region collaborates with municipalities on these jobs and provides support for supervisor compensation, while the municipalities hire the youth and run the projects.
Two municipalities, Järfälla and Södertälje, are participating for the first time. In Järfälla, the jobs will focus on crafts, theater, and music, with activities including music-making, digital creation, and design and costume work. In Södertälje, youth will work on film and music, with musicians collaborating with 'Kultur 365' to perform for seniors and tour the municipality with a show they create together, and filmmakers creating film reports and social media clips under professional guidance.
In Tyresö, dance projects aim to contribute to the local cultural life through outdoor pop-ups and performances for children and seniors, while film projects involve creating a film about the new municipal plan. In Solna, participants will join the art project 'En Planet - ett folk,' visiting schools for workshops and creating paintings to be displayed on Råstavägen, with additional performances and workshops in music, dance, musicals, and acrobatics. In Enskede/Årsta/Vantör, theater jobs involve working with the cultural and theater association Enskedespelet to create and perform a show across multiple districts.
In Upplands Väsby, there will be a summer orchestra and circus school. The participating municipalities for 2026 are Botkyrka, Haninge, Huddinge, Järfälla, Nacka, Norrtälje, Nynäshamn, Sollentuna, Solna, Stockholm, Sundbyberg, Södertälje, Tyresö, Upplands Väsby, and Österåker.
