Region Dalarna approves family center in Smedjebacken
Key Points
  • Committee approves family center in Smedjebacken at Berguven 9
  • Move-in planned for summer 2027
  • BVC and MVC to relocate from health center

The family center will gather support and interventions for children, young people, and families in one place, according to Region Dalarna. When established, the child health center (BVC) and maternity health center (MVC) will relocate from their current premises at the Smedjebacken health center. The decision reverses the regional board's February 5, 2024 decision, which concerned a different location. The regional board will make the final decision on the center.

In a separate move, the committee decided to make the Digital Psychiatry Clinic Dalarna a permanent operation. The clinic started as a project in 2023. According to Region Dalarna, approximately 1,500 patients—12% of Dalarna's psychiatric outpatient care patients—have chosen to receive all their care digitally via the clinic. The project has resulted in more accessible care, shorter waiting times, and the possibility of early interventions and equal care for residents in both rural and urban areas.
