Key Points
  • Prosecutor appeals dismissal of child abuse charges against a teacher in Haninge.
  • The teacher was previously convicted in 2024 for crimes involving students.
  • The prosecutor claims the new case involves unexamined films from the same hard drive.

A prosecutor is seeking to appeal a court's dismissal of charges against a former sports teacher in Haninge, Stockholm. The teacher was previously convicted in 2024 of child pornography, sexual harassment, and offensive photography, receiving a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence. In that investigation, over a million files were found showing more than 50 students from Båtsmansskolan in Haninge.

Last autumn, the teacher was charged with sexual harassment of children in a new case, but the district court dismissed the charges, ruling that he had already been convicted for the same material. Prosecutor Kajsa Frisk has now requested that the Svea Court of Appeal review the dismissal. She states that the decision was based on incorrect information and that the films in the new case have never been examined, arguing they should not be covered by the previous conviction's legal force.

The district court wrote in its judgment that it understood the films were part of the 2024 case.
