Primark opens new store in Epsom's Ashley Centre, creating over 90 jobs
Key Points
  • Primark opens 199th UK store in Epsom's Ashley Centre
  • Store spans two floors, 31,400 sq ft with over 90 new jobs
  • Features click-and-collect, spring collection launch with live DJ

The store is Primark's 199th UK location, spanning two floors and 31,400 square feet. It stocks womenswear, menswear, kidswear, shoes, accessories, beauty, home, and travel products, and features escalators, unisex changing rooms, and self-service tills. More than 90 new retail colleagues have been hired for the store, which also offers Primark's click-and-collect service.

Primark launched its new spring collection earlier this week, including items such as 100% linen pieces, paper-pleat cocoon trousers, a satin slip dress, and a tailored blazer with cinching belt, with prices starting from £12. To mark the launch, customers were greeted by a live DJ. Primark has nearby locations in Sutton, Kingston, and Guildford, and CBRE Investment Management owns The Ashley Centre.

Primark is one of the UK’s most recognisable high street brands, and its arrival is a significant moment for the Ashley Centre. The store has created new job opportunities for the local community, will drive additional footfall, and further strengthen the centre’s position at the heart of Epsom’s retail offer.

The exact investment cost for opening this Primark store and how its size compares to other Primark locations in the UK are not known. According to Primark, store manager Ewa Klepczuk said the team is excited to open in Epsom and looks forward to meeting customers. Louisa Butters, head of urban destinations at CBRE Investment Management, noted that Primark's arrival will drive additional footfall and strengthen the centre's retail offer, though the specific economic impact on the Ashley Centre and local businesses remains unclear.
