The threat was reported shortly before 3:30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, according to multiple reports. Security staff evacuated the centre before officers arrived to conduct a detailed search. Lancashire Police said nothing suspicious was found and the incident is being treated as a hoax.
A police spokesperson said: "We are grateful to the centre management and staff and to any members of the public who were affected for their cooperation and support. " An investigation is underway to identify who made the hoax call, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 0872 of May 4th or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
