Öland is hosting Postkodlotteriet's Grannyra for the first time, with an announcement on April 2 that postcode 387 72 in Löttorp won, distributing 101 million kronor among lottery buyers in the area. Postkodlotteriet has decided to relocate the win celebration, the so-called Grannyran, to Borgholm. Ölandsbladet was first to report the relocation of Grannyran to Borgholm.
Postkodlotteriet justifies the move to Borgholm with logistical reasons. The choice of Borgholm as the recording location for Grannyran is based on a collective assessment of several factors where they want to arrange a big party for all Öland residents. The work to arrange such a large TV recording is a big and extensive job, according to TV4's executive producer.
Katja Ingeman believes many Löttorp residents will boycott Grannyran if it takes place in Borgholm. Several Borgholm residents Katja Ingeman has spoken with also think it is embarrassing. Ingeman does not buy that reason and believes they could have arranged a gathering place.
Several Öland residents demand that the municipality act, even though it is Postkodlotteriet that owns the question of where the win celebration should take place. Ilko Corkovic, Borgholm's municipal councilor, personally thinks the party should be in Löttorp, but it is not his decision to make.
I personally think the party should be in Löttorp, but it is not my decision to make.
Postkodlotteriet offers free buses for lottery winners the 4.5 miles from Löttorp. Those who win money in Löttorp have been offered to take a bus to Borgholm, according to Katja Ingeman. Ingeman hopes Postkodlotteriet will change its mind, and if there are problems with logistics or accommodations, she says the local population is ready to solve this.
Ahead of Sunday's event, an exact location has not yet been announced. Postkodlotteriet does not seem to have any plans to change location, leaving it unclear if they will respond to criticism.
Katja Ingeman has not won any money herself but is engaged in the issue and wants the festivities to be held in Löttorp.
The festival in Borgholm will be attended by, among others, Melodifestivalen participant Lilla Al-Fadji, adding to the celebration's appeal.
