Over half of Britons support fully rejoining the EU, according to new research, with 53% in favor and 32% opposed. The polling also shows substantial backing for closer ties through other mechanisms, with 49% supporting a customs union and 46% supporting the single market. Additionally, 61% of people support the government's current approach in resetting relations with the EU to build closer ties.

Support for rejoining the EU varies sharply along political lines, being highest among Labour, Liberal Democrat, and Green Party supporters, at 83%, 84%, and 82% respectively. In contrast, support is lower among right-wing voters, with 39% of Conservative supporters and 18% of Reform UK supporters backing the policy. The prime minister pledged to reset Britain's relationship with Brussels when he took office.
