Three political parties in Jönköping County have proposed a 10 million kronor investment to strengthen ambulance services in the region. According to SVT Nyheter, the Social Democrats, Moderates, and Vårddemokraterna are calling for an additional emergency ambulance to be deployed in the Jönköping area during evening hours from 5 PM to 1 AM, when demand for ambulance services is highest.
The proposal follows last year's introduction of a transport ambulance to relieve pressure on regular ambulance services during patient transfers between hospitals. The new initiative would further enhance capacity during peak hours. Thomas Gustafsson (S), chairman of the public health and healthcare committee, stated that when people need emergency help, they should be able to trust that the ambulance will arrive quickly, calling the investment an important initiative.

Additional measures in the proposal include strengthening SOS Alarm's healthcare management with a nurse to support care level assessment and transport planning, as well as introducing an on-call ambulance chief to enhance leadership and coordination during crises and larger incidents. The plan also includes 1.6 million kronor for transitioning to environmentally friendly HVO100 fuel.
