Police on Hisingen have recently conducted an operation against prostitution at several locations in Gothenburg. The operation has led to several reports of sex purchases and over one hundred phone numbers of suspected sex buyers have been collected. It was carried out by police on Hisingen, both with plainclothes and uniformed personnel, at various places around Gothenburg.

The purpose was partly to investigate and prosecute suspected sex buyers, and partly to reach both sellers and buyers with information and support to help them leave their situation. The operation has resulted in several reports of sex purchases being filed. Police have also gained access to over 100 phone numbers linked to suspected sex buyers.

The phone numbers will now be analyzed further and included in police's continued mapping of prostitution in the area. According to police, more people may be suspected of crimes.
