Police detained nearly 80 people during disturbances at a motor show event in Jönköping over the Easter weekend, according to police reports. The incidents occurred in connection with a large motor show taking place at the Elmia exhibition center during the holiday period. Police operations leader Andreas Fyhr told Expressen that approximately 8,000 people were present at the event, many of them young people, with generally very high levels of intoxication reported.
The disturbances began on Good Friday evening when police detained about 15 people for drunk driving and public order offenses, and also handled several assault cases. The situation escalated on Easter Saturday evening with increased disturbances. According to Fyhr, there was a fire in a caravan, people were jumping on and damaging cars, and some were setting off fireworks and firecrackers.
