A police officer from Karlskrona has been convicted for assaulting a friend in a Stockholm hotel room, according to court reports. The incident occurred in March of last year when the officer and his friend were in Stockholm to watch football and shared a hotel room. According to the court documents, the officer had fallen asleep naked across the bed, and when his friend tried to wake him by pulling him to the floor, the officer immediately attacked.

He pushed his friend to the floor, sat on top of him, and delivered approximately ten blows to his head. The officer denied the crime, claiming he was surprised by being woken and thought he was under attack, but the district court found this defense disproven. The officer was also convicted for a separate assault that occurred a month earlier when he kneed another friend in the stomach during a shuffleboard game.

In addition to the two assault convictions, he was found guilty of sending threatening messages to two brothers. The officer has been sentenced to supervised probation and community service, and has lost his employment with the police force.
