On March 20, police in Gävle, Sweden, responded to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Sätra area. According to the police, members of the public alerted authorities after observing the car driving onto traffic islands and occasionally on the wrong side of the road. A patrol located the vehicle and the suspected driver, filing a report for careless driving and seizing the man's driver's license on the spot.
Separately, Gävle Municipality has reportedly stopped sending reminders for renewing travel service permits, a change implemented about a year and a half ago. Jessica Croft, head of school transport and travel service at the municipality, stated that it is the customer's responsibility to apply for renewal when their permit expires, following municipal guidelines. This has led to instances where individuals, such as 88-year-old Holger Thunved, reportedly lost their travel service without warning and face processing times of six to eight weeks for renewals.
