The shooting occurred at around 10:50 a.m., according to multiple reports. The hospital campus was placed on lockdown. Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital said patients and staff were safe. The man later fired shots at law enforcement officers and exited the hospital building, according to the posting. He was later apprehended. The names of the officers were not released pending family notification, Snelling said. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said the city is providing mental health support services to police officers.
