Police have begun deploying patrol cars equipped with advanced radar systems to detect more speeding violations, according to police statements. The new radar technology, described as a "powerful and long-awaited tool" by police spokesperson Ursula Edström, can measure vehicle speeds both in front of the police car and in oncoming lanes. The system operates whether the police vehicle is moving or stationary, making 18 measurements per second and capable of tracking all vehicles within the radar's detection area.
Edström stated that the technology will help make roads safer for all users. The deployment follows a police press release announcing the rollout of the radar-equipped vehicles across road networks.
