According to a report from the Västerbotten Police Department, officers conducted multiple traffic controls across the county on March 1, 2026. The police activity included sobriety checks and traffic monitoring in several municipalities. In Storuman, a driver was stopped for not scraping their car windows, resulting in poor visibility.
An investigation was conducted and a report was filed for careless driving. In Vilhelmina, a driver received a fine for speeding while towing a trailer, having driven at 100 km/h. Additional traffic controls were carried out in Lycksele, Skellefteå, Sorsele, and Umeå, where no violations were reported.
Police also checked snowmobile drivers in Hemavan, with all drivers found to be sober. The police noted that these reports provide brief information about a selection of police operations and that the information is preliminary and subject to change.
