Police in Mjölby have charged a 35-year-old man with serious drug and weapons offenses following a major drug bust at an apartment in the town. According to Östgöta Correspondenten, police found two firearms and narcotics valued at approximately 2.5 million Swedish kronor during a search of the apartment.
The arrest followed observations by plainclothes police officers in central Mjölby on September 30 last year, who noticed two individuals behaving nervously before meeting with the 35-year-old suspect. The investigation led to the subsequent apartment search where the drugs and weapons were discovered.
In a separate but related incident reported by SVT Östergötland, school children discovered a box containing methamphetamine during a field trip to a wooded area on the outskirts of Mjölby. The box, which had been buried, was found by students during an outdoor activity and has since been handed over to police.
School officials have reportedly contacted parents about the incident, advising them to talk to their children about never tasting substances they find outdoors. Both incidents highlight ongoing drug-related concerns in the Mjölby area.
