The Polarbrödsgruppen has become the main owner of the Luleå-based restaurant chain Råvara, according to local media reports. The transaction marks a significant ownership change for the sushi and salad-focused restaurant group that was founded in Luleå in 2004.
Anders Hellman, who started Råvara with a single restaurant in Luleå over 20 years ago, has sold the majority of his shares in the company. Under his leadership, the chain grew to include eight restaurants across the region.
The Älvsby-based Polarbrödsgruppen reportedly purchased its first shares in Råvara two years ago, at which time it secured an option to later become the largest shareholder. The company has now exercised that option, according to reports from Kuriren.
While financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the move is described as part of Polarbrödsgruppen's strategy to expand the restaurant chain further. The acquisition represents a consolidation in the northern Swedish restaurant market, with a major food industry player taking control of a growing restaurant concept.
