Anki Norman, a mathematics and chemistry teacher at Strömbackaskolan in Piteå, has been awarded the prestigious Ingvar Lindqvistpriset, often described as a 'Nobel Prize for teachers.' The award is presented by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien), the same organization that awards Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry.
According to reports, Norman initially thought someone was joking when she received the phone call from the Academy. 'I get warm in my heart from this prize,' said Norman. 'It feels completely unreal, I'm super happy!'

The Ingvar Lindqvistpriset is awarded annually to four teachers who, through 'enthusiasm, engagement, and development work,' have increased students' interest in and knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences. The award recognizes teachers at both primary and secondary school levels.
Another recipient this year is Sam Edgecombe, a physics teacher at Malmö borgarskola, who was recognized for his engaging teaching methods and involvement in international physics competitions. Award recipients receive 50,000 SEK as a personal prize and an additional 50,000 SEK for material purchases.
The prize is considered one of Sweden's most prestigious teacher awards and follows a similar notification process to the Nobel Prizes, with winners receiving personal calls from the Academy's permanent secretary.
