Piteå Real Estate Office Rescues Bankrupt Skellefteå Branch with Reduced Staff

Key Points
  • Svensk Fastighetsförmedling's bankrupt Skellefteå office has been taken over by its Piteå counterpart.
  • The office will continue with six employees, down from ten previously employed.
  • The takeover occurs amid broader economic recovery in Skellefteå following Northvolt's bankruptcy.

The bankrupt Svensk Fastighetsförmedling office in Skellefteå has been rescued by its counterpart in Piteå, according to local reports. The real estate agency will continue operations but with significantly reduced staffing.

Joakim Norberg, franchisee of Svensk Fastighetsförmedling in Piteå, confirmed that he and other owners will take over as franchisees in Skellefteå. The takeover comes after the Skellefteå office entered bankruptcy proceedings.

"All employees unfortunately won't have the opportunity to come with us. It's really unfortunate but we must get the company's finances in order," Norberg told Piteå-Tidningen.

The office will continue with six employees, down from the ten who remained in the bankruptcy estate. One of the former part-owners has chosen to move on to other opportunities.

The business rescue occurs against the backdrop of broader economic shifts in Skellefteå. The city's unemployment rate rose from three to nine percent following Northvolt's bankruptcy a year ago, though it has since fallen to around six percent, below the national average of 6.8 percent.

Meanwhile, Lyten has begun recruiting for the former Northvolt battery factory it recently acquired, with hopes that former employees may return to their jobs.
