Key Points
  • Phoebe Irving, 26, bought a Liverpool flat for £105,000 and discovered a hidden room.
  • The room is nearly the size of three double bedrooms, doubling the flat's space.
  • The room was not on the floor plan and was missed by surveyors.

Phoebe Irving purchased the flat and later found a concealed room that is nearly the size of three double bedrooms, effectively doubling the living space. According to Metro, Irving said the estate agent had told her the locked room was just for storage and forgot to bring the keys for a second viewing. The hidden room was not on the floor plan and was not detected by surveyors, multiple reports indicate.

Irving paid a £10,000 deposit and saved using a Lifetime ISA. She is now considering turning the extra space into a cinema room or dressing room, according to reports. She is renovating the flat with a budget of £5,000, Metro reports. Irving told Daily Mail that the space is "basically a whole floor." The exact square footage of the hidden room remains unknown, as does its original purpose and why it was omitted from official documents.
