Philips-branded televisions are making a significant operating system change, abandoning Google TV in favor of the web-based Titan OS platform for their entire 2026 lineup, according to reports. The transition marks a strategic shift for the TV brand, which had previously used Android TV and the more modern Google TV interface for several years. TP Vision, the Amsterdam-based company that owns the Philips TV brand and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong-based TPV Technology, reportedly made the decision based on Titan OS having lower system requirements and being more lightweight compared to Google's platform.
The company cited greater control over design and functionality as key advantages, along with the ability to contribute input for the platform's future development. With this move, Philips joins competitors Samsung and LG, which use their own proprietary operating systems Tizen and Web OS respectively, rather than Google's platform. The switch to Titan OS is also expected to result in the removal of Google Cast support from Philips televisions.
