The controversial pedophile hunter website Dumpen is facing another defamation lawsuit, according to reports from multiple Swedish news outlets. The website's responsible publisher, Sara Nilsson, was reportedly convicted of gross defamation two months ago for publishing the name and photo of a man who allegedly engaged in sexual chats with a fictitious child. That conviction resulted in a conditional sentence and daily fines, and has been appealed to the Court of Appeal.
Now, a new private prosecution has been filed against Dumpen at Göteborg District Court. A man in his 40s from the Stockholm region has initiated the lawsuit, seeking 40,000 kronor in damages for gross defamation. According to the man's lawyer, Behrang Eslami, they sent a letter to the responsible publisher in early March demanding removal of the published information, but received no response, prompting legal action.
The case represents another legal challenge for the vigilante website, which has faced criticism for its methods of identifying and publicly shaming individuals suspected of online child exploitation activities. The new hearing is scheduled to take place in Göteborg District Court.
