Patrick Schwarzenegger has been cast as the male lead opposite Phoebe Dynevor in the film adaptation of Emily Henry's novel Beach Reach, produced by 20th Century Studios and directed by Yulin Kuang. Schwarzenegger will portray Gus Everett, a rival author to Dynevor's character January Andrews. The casting of Patrick Schwarzenegger followed an extensive search lasting several months.
The studio was reportedly impressed by the chemistry between Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor during their chemistry read. Dynevor is best known for playing Daphne in the first season of Bridgerton. Schwarzenegger has also signed on to star in the romantic drama Love Of Your Life for Amazon MGM Studios.
He recently appeared as Saxon Ratliff in the third season of HBO's The White Lotus, and early buzz suggests he could receive his first Emmy nomination for that role. Additionally, he is set to star in the psychological thriller Bunker alongside Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Stephen Graham, and Paul Dano. Emily Henry's novel Beach Reach was originally published in 2020 and follows a romance writer named January Andrews who reunites with a rival author named Gus Everett at a Michigan beach house.
Yulin Kuang, who will write and direct the film adaptation, co-wrote the Netflix adaptation of Emily Henry's novel People We Meet on Vacation. Production and release dates for the film have not been announced, and it is unknown if other cast members will be revealed or if the adaptation will follow the novel's plot exactly.
