A try-out day for students from an adapted elementary school in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, featured sports like ice hockey, sledge hockey, cross-country skiing, and curling. The event is part of a multi-day celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the first Paralympic Winter Games, which were held in Örnsköldsvik. Instructors included cross-country skier Sofie Åhlander and other experienced parasport athletes, who emphasized having fun and maintaining balance.
Peter Kallin, a sports strategist for Örnsköldsvik Municipality, said it was great to give this target group the opportunity to try the sports. Anna Mannelqvist, a parasport coach and chair of Vårby IK, praised the municipality's organization of the anniversary events, hoping it would inspire continued participation.
