Pa Konate has officially joined the Swedish football club Österlen FF, according to reports from Fotbolltransfers and Sydsvenskan. The 31-year-old defender, who previously played for Malmö FF and won four Swedish championships with the club, has been training with Österlen FF for several weeks. Konate has made 80 appearances in Sweden's top division, Allsvenskan, and has also played for clubs abroad including SPAL, Rosenborg, and Botev Plovdiv, before returning to the Nordic region and most recently playing in Finland with KuPS.
Österlen FF's coach Jim Gustafsson told Ystads Allehanda that Konate is the most decorated player ever to join the club and is versatile, with his natural position on the left side but capable of playing in multiple roles, including in attack and in a three-man defense. Konate reportedly said in an interview with Sydsvenskan last week that he is not interested in another overseas adventure and wants to stay in Skåne, Sweden, aiming to play until his knees give out.
