Suzana Kraeva, unit manager at Oxhagsgatans group home, said that about two and a half years ago the home faced high sick leave and workplace environment problems. To create change, work began close to daily operations, with environment issues raised at meetings and becoming a shared responsibility. According to Kraeva, a key part was creating clear structure in meetings and clarifying their purpose, setting aside time for work environment questions and working more systematically.
Work environment is not just the responsibility of the manager or the safety representative. Everyone needs to be involved.
Work is now planned and followed up continuously using various tools, with a monthly focus such as collaboration or equal treatment. All employees are involved through dialogue, joint exercises, and reflection, and everyone is encouraged to speak. Safety representative Håkan Andersson said that work environment is not just the manager's or safety representative's responsibility – everyone needs to be involved. The safety representative has played an important role in picking up signals and contributing to preventive work. Today, clear results are visible: increased safety in the work group and more people raising issues when something is not working.
