Officials in Östersund municipality have proposed closing grades 4-6 at Fåker school immediately, with students moving to Kastalskolan in Brunflo until a new school in Tandsbyn is ready. The proposal from the administration to politicians states that this decision aligns with the wishes of most students and guardians. In mid-November, students in grades 4, 5, and 6 were moved to Brunflo due to an acute teacher shortage, and a decision was later made for the 22 students to remain at Kastalskolan for the school year.

Previously, there was a decision to convert Fåker school into an F-3 school and move the older grades to a new school in Tandsbyn, which is estimated to be ready in 2029. The Children and Education Committee will make a decision on Thursday, March 26.
