The municipality has grown tired of the lack of completion and is demanding the current property owner, Krona Östersund AB, to take a series of measures, officials said. If the property owner does not meet the requirements within the set time, a fixed penalty of 750,000 kronor will be imposed, followed by 500,000 kronor per month until the points are fulfilled. On Thursday, the Environment and Building Committee will make the formal decision.
The background involves four multi-family houses with 114 apartments that have not been completed since the first tenants moved in during autumn 2022, despite the municipality issuing a provisional final decision. The property owner has continuously requested more time to complete the work. Financially, the company that built the houses, Nischer Properties, received 48 million kronor in state investment support.
It remains unclear what specific measures the municipality is demanding or why the houses have not been finished, with the exact requirements to avoid penalties and the current status of construction work also unknown.
