Four major home care service units in Östersund have taken over the renovated Österängsskolan building, creating a centralized headquarters for the municipality's home care operations. According to SVT Jämtlandsnytt, the units from Odensala, Lugnvik, and two from central Östersund have relocated to the former school building.
Peter Sylsjö, a unit manager within the home care service, stated that the move has made it easier for managers to assist each other during absences. The new facility now houses home care staff, management, nurses, and occupational therapists who previously operated from various locations around the city.

Binian Angosom, a home care employee, noted the improved accessibility, saying that previously when they had facilities in different areas, it could be difficult to reach a manager or nurse, but now they can simply walk to them. Peter Sylsjö described the building as a 'super house for home care' with educational facilities included.
However, not all employees are satisfied with the change. Madeleine Parck expressed disappointment, stating that the large building echoes and she misses their old, cozier facility. She also noted challenges with travel time between Österängen and client visits.
