Oslo man charged with racist murder of colleague
Key Points
  • Djordje Wilms charged with murder, not terror, in racist killing of Tamima Nibras Juhar
  • Victim had warned employer about Wilms; employer alerted police
  • Court extended detention citing risk of reoffending; prosecution may seek preventive detention

Djordje Wilms is charged with murder, not terror, according to multiple reports. Statsadvokat Cecilie Schløsser Møller said the murder was racist-motivated, which will be a sentencing aggravating factor. The victim, Tamima Nibras Juhar, was stabbed multiple times, major media reported.

Juhar had been afraid to go to work due to experiences with Wilms and alerted her employer, Gemt AS, which then alerted police in summer 2025, according to multiple reports. The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority found that Gemt violated the Working Environment Act. Section manager Ida Aagaard said the authority assessed that the deficiencies and breaches were underlying causes of the tragic incident.

The court finds that there is a strong preponderance of probability that the suspect will commit serious crimes if he is not remanded in custody.

Oslo District Court, Court

Oslo District Court extended Wilms' pre-trial detention by four weeks, citing risk of reoffending, major media reported. The court found that Wilms still intends to kill Muslims if released and his motivation has not weakened. The prosecution has reserved the right to request preventive detention, according to multiple reports. The prosecution had requested eight weeks, but the court applied the main rule of four weeks, major media reported.

City council leader Eirik Lae Solberg said the housing measure and its staffing were not appropriate for Wilms and that it was not defensible for him to live there with one person on duty. Social councillor Julianne Ferskaug said there was failure at multiple levels and that the municipality committed errors and violations.
