Örnsköldsviks Municipality has decided to close two preschools, Galaxen and Stjärnan, according to a report from Tidningen Ångermanland/Allehanda. The closures are expected to affect approximately 30 children. The decision comes as the municipality faced a choice between closing the facilities this autumn or keeping them open for significantly longer periods.
The report indicates that the preschools' facilities do not meet required standards, prompting the closure decision. Galaxen preschool is located in a typical rental building on Sörbyvägen, while Stjärnan is situated nearby in a similar residential environment. The municipality reportedly considered that maintaining the substandard facilities would not be viable long-term.
