Örnsköldsvik municipality has reversed its decision to prevent gymnastics coach Anastasia Isupova from teaching dance classes to children, according to a recent municipal decision. The controversy began when Culture and Leisure Committee chairman Björn Olsson (C) stopped Isupova from conducting two dance sessions during the autumn break, citing recommendations from the Gymnastics Federation.
Isupova was accused of misconduct by gymnasts from Örnsköldsvik Gymnastics Club 11 years ago, leading the Gymnastics Federation to interview the athletes and recommend her indefinite suspension. "Many children were very sad. It was very difficult to accept," said Anastasia Isupova about the initial ban. She hopes for an apology from Olsson to help restore her reputation.
Olsson defended his original decision, stating, "I stand by that it was the right decision then because we followed the Gymnastics Federation's recommendations." He added, "I have no problem apologizing, absolutely not."
