Örebro municipality announced on February 24, 2026, that it will introduce a new parking zone called Zone 3 starting in March 2026. According to the municipality's official announcement, the new zone will be located west, north, and south of the existing Zone 2. The parking fee in Zone 3 will be 5 kronor per hour on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00, excluding days before Sundays and holidays.
Magnus Carlberg, operations manager for Park and Street, stated that the new zone is being implemented to organize traffic and increase traffic safety while creating better conditions for all road users. The municipality explained that the areas around Zone 2 have seen increased residential and workplace development in recent years, leading to more people parking there to avoid fees in Zone 2. Additional measures include parking bans on one side of narrow streets to improve accessibility for emergency vehicles and waste collection trucks.
Resident parking permits will be available in Zone 3 for those living in the area, with applications having opened on February 2, 2026. The implementation will occur gradually as new road signs are installed, with the goal of having the entire zone regulated by spring 2026.
