According to sources, graduating is an expensive affair, especially the prom. A prom dress can cost several thousand kronor and in many cases is only used for one evening. This is the second year in a row that members of the two clubs are engaging so that all students who want to can attend the prom.
Members have taken out nice dresses from their own wardrobes, and it is free for students from all schools to borrow them. The dresses are available at Karolinska gymnasiet. The initiative was started by Margareta Möller, president of Örebro Zontaklubb.
It is a very nice initiative so that we students don't have to buy everything new.
It is already clear that it will be a favorite in repeat again. Already this winter, Örebro Zontaklubb and Örebro Soroptimistklubb will begin work for next year's student prom. Örebro Soroptimistklubb is part of Soroptimist International, one of the world's largest politically independent women's organizations and engages for other women through various projects, networks, and other activities.
Örebro Zontaklubb focuses on women's and girls' health, education, economy, and the abolition of child marriage, gender-based violence, and human trafficking. " Barbro Swartz, a board member of Örebro Zontaklubb, noted, "It is so expensive today to graduate. " The exact number of dresses available for borrowing and how many students have used the initiative so far are not specified.
At the same time, it is an experience in itself to get to come here and try on all the dresses.
The clubs are preparing for future proms as the program continues to gain popularity.
